Paige VanZant appeared during the second hour of today’s MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani where she talked about signing with AEW. She noted that the reason why she signed with AEW instead of WWE came down to the atmosphere in AEW and not wanting to be under an exclusive deal as VanZant makes a lot of money by doing OnlyFans and bare-knuckle fighting.
VanZant started off by noting that she knew she would go to AEW or WWE one day, but the atmosphere in AEW made her know it was the place for her.
“Yeah, I went down to their training center about a year ago. I did have some things in the works, but AEW kind of….had the right things to words for me to come over to AEW.”
When asked whether there was a bidding war between AEW and WWE, VanZant said, “not a bidding war, no. There were just different contract details and styles. AEW…they’re working hand in hand with BKFC. I still get to be a professional fighter, I still get to be myself. It’s not an exclusive full-time wrestling contract. I’m in AEW, I’m going to wrestle for them, but they’re also letting me be part of the BFC.”
VanZant noted that she still wants to fight and with the AEW contract not being exclusive, it was the perfect partnership. She confirmed WWE wanted her to be exclusive with them. You can watch the entire interview by clicking on the player below:
