Heath Slater appeared on “Stories with Brisco and Bradshaw” this week where he talked about 3MB’s run in the WWE.

“The one man band thing was running its course and I did all that I could with it. So I went to Michael (Hayes) and said, ‘I’ve been a one man band for a while and I’m just like, damn it, I need a band. Let me have a band.’ He’s like, ‘Well, who are you thinking?’ So I literally told him, ‘I want EC3. I want Fandango, but he was Johnny Curtis at the time, and I want Dean Ambrose and he wasn’t even called up at the top.’”

“‘He’s like, oh, okay, well, let me see what I can do.’ He comes back. He’s like ‘Fandango’, and at the time he was Johnny Curtis, ‘we got an idea for him, Fandango. Dean Ambrose, we have an idea for him, the Shield.’ I was like, ‘What about EC3?’ He’s like, no, but you get your band,’” Slater said.

“Three weeks later, he said, ‘Hey, man, you’re getting your band tonight.’ I’m like,’ Alright, who is it?’ He said, ‘Jinder and Drew.’ I’m like, ‘What the hell do you mean? It’s like, there’s no one I pitched.’ He’s just like, ‘That’s what Vince wanted. You, Jinder, and Drew in a band.’ I’m sitting there thinking like, man, that just sounds like a bad joke. You know, an Indian, a Scotsman and a Redneck walks in a bar,” he continued.

“I’m like, Oh, crap, Drew’s going to really be pissed because Drew wants to be a serious killer. Jinder is more of a ‘Yeah, sure, man, whatever, we can do this.’ So thank God we were buddies outside the business. You know, we went out to drink. We had late night dinners and stuff. We were buddies. We were friends outside the business.”

“So we were like, ‘You know what, man, let’s just try to make this work’, and literally, it was two years of some damn entertaining crap that three guys that waltzed into WWE at the time. We didn’t know what was going on. We had to be rock stars. The bad thing about it is that we actually lived like rock stars. We partied all night. We thought we were Motley Crue in the wrestling version. I probably lost five years of my life in just the two years that I’ve worked with them. Like it was wild, man. It was fun. We became even closer.”
