The Mandalorian Season 3 began production back in October for Disney+, but according to a recent report from Bespin Bulletin, filming may have already come to a halt.

The report notes that filming on The Mandalorian season three was set to resume last week following a holiday break. However, according to the report, the cast and crew have yet to return to production. Instead, the recent rise in COVID-19 cases in Los Angeles has essentially caused production to come to a stop for the time being.

Bespin Bulletin’s report notes that no one in the cast or crew has become sick, but the decision was made to pause production to err on the side of safety. At the moment, no return date has been decided for the return to production. While it’s unknown if the pause in production has happened, The Mandalorian would not be the first series to pause production due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Recently, Star Trek: Picard saw its production paused, with others likely to pop up in the coming weeks.

The Mandalorian hails from executive producers Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, Karen Gilchrist, and Carrie Beck, with Favreau also set as the showrunner and one of its directors. It is being led by Pedro Pascal as a lone Mandalorian gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy. As of now, Carl Weathers and Gian Carlo Esposito are the only returning cast members confirmed for the third season.

“After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe, the series is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order,” reads the synopsis. “We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”

Following the success of The Mandalorian, Lucasfilm currently has two Star Wars projects lined up for Disney+. This includes The Book of Boba Fett starring Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen; and Ahsoka starring Rosario Dawson, which are both set within The Mandalorian timeline.
