“Both Dianne and I have been massive fans of Final Destination from the very beginning,” Watts said in a statement, “So to be able to have a hand in crafting a new story with the original team and New Line is going to be both fun and exciting.”

Perry added, “Jon and Dianne’s passion for the series is only matched by how much fun they are to work with. Sheila and I couldn’t be more excited to have their creative energy driving this latest installment in the Final Destination franchise with New Line. With Guy and Lori’s inspired execution of Jon’s original idea, we have a movie that audiences are gonna love.”

It has been over a decade since the theatrical release of the last Final Destination installment, where it led the franchise to earn a combined worldwide gross of over $660 million. The sixth installment has been in development since 2019, where the project was described as a reimagining of the horror-thriller franchise.

Final Destination 6 isn’t the only horror reboot that will be coming to HBO Max as New Line Cinema is currently in post-production for the upcoming latest installment of Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead titled Evil Dead Rise.
