Fightful is reporting that there were never any real plans put in place for Katrina Cortez. It’s unclear why creative never found anything meaningful for her to do.
Sin Cara had previously said that when he was parted with Cortez in late 2019, there were no real plans for her and their pairing was only temporary to put over Andrade and Zelina Vega. Shortly after this is when he asked for his release. Sin Cara said he was told at the time that his character was “dead” and then Cortez was sent back to NXT. Cortez made some minor appearances as part of the group of wrestlers making noise during the Raw/SmackDown shows at the Performance Center last year.
Meanwhile, there were some tentative plans for Mia Yim to be on shows before the WWE Draft but plans changed and she wasn’t used, according to Fightful.
Yim had been switched around between Raw and SmackDown this year despite not being used at all this year. The last thing she did on TV was break away from the Retribution stable and it looked like she was going to be used as a singles star.
