The Rock wrestled at his first Survivor Series 25 years ago at Madison Square Garden for WWE. At the time, nobody could’ve guessed that the baby faced good guy would one day turn into a legend. He’s even taken over Hollywood and become a mainstream star.

It all started with Vince McMahon’s decision to bring The Rock into the world of professional wrestling. The Great One shared a heartfelt Instagram post on the anniversary of his first match with the company. He thanked the fans, the other wrestlers, the city of New York, and Vince McMahon for their support over the years.

“Wow 25 years ago TODAY I made my #SurvivorSeries debut in @WWE in the famed Madison Square Garden.

No one knew who the f*ck I was or even more confusing what the f*ck was I wearing

But I was willing then, as I am today ~ to give it ALL I GOT.
All my passion, grit, mana, my energy.

I cannot overstate this enough – THANK YOU to all the #wweuniverse and the “make it or break it” CITY OF NEW YORK – you opened your arms and embraced this punk kid who came to the ring dressed in fucked up blue tassels and a pineapple haircut with just as much love and passion as I gave you.

And that’s why our CONNECTION today is stronger than ever.

And “FINALLY”…. (you know I had to get that in;)

Finally, THANK YOU to Vince and “the boys”.

Vince for having the vision and the boys for agreeing to buy into it.

The ONLY WAY I WIN on this historic night 25 years ago to launch my career, is if these wrestlers LET ME WIN.

And that’s one of the many valuable lessons I’ve learned from our wrestling industry.

You’re only as good as your opponent makes you look… so always take care of your opponent.

That’s our dance.
That’s our business.
And I will always fucking love it.

BEST OF LUCK to all the “boys and girls” this weekend at the Survivor Series.
Move the crowd, stay safe and HAVE FUN!”

Roman Reigns recently told Jimmy Fallon that he was willing to fight The Rock. While it’s not believed to be happening any time soon, fans know the fight is inevitable. When it comes, it will be a truly huge moment. Until then, WWE fans have years of amazing performances to go back to time and time again. Congratulations, Rock!

When do you think The Rock will finally return to WWE? Let us know in the comments!
