In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that there were segments involving Roman Reigns that were changed on the day of the show. This was first reported by Ringside News.
Basically, the end of the show that saw The Bloodline attack New Day members Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods was a late addition to the show.
Meltzer noted that there were changes being pitched from 4 to 6 pm on the day of the show but that has been the case with Reigns segments since it’s common for Reigns and Brock Lesnar to ask for late changes with the idea being that they want to enhance what is already on paper.
The idea behind The Bloodline attacking The New Day was that it would help build the match between Reigns and Big E at Survivor Series.
The build for this year’s Survivor Series has been lackluster and is probably the least hyped major WWE show in many years. However, similar to how UFC hypes their shows on the fight week, the company is banking on all of the media interviews this week to generate buzz. Since the show will be in Brooklyn, NY at the Barclays Center, that allows the company to do a lot of in-person interviews. Also, their deal with NBCUniversal has also helped to get them interviews with NBC affiliates along with Roman Reigns’ appearance on NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Another thing they have been banking on is the real-life issues between Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair helping to draw extra interest for their match.
