AEW had to come up with a replacement for Jon Moxley in the World Title Eliminator Tournament as he was slated to meet Orange Cassidy in a semi-final match.
Tony Khan didn’t have a lot of time to come up with a replacement as he announced late Monday night that Moxley decided to get help and had entered a rehab facility.
Miro ended up being Moxley’s replacement and beat Cassidy on Wednesday’s Dynamite to advance to the finals of the tournament where he’ll face Bryan Danielson at the Full Gear pay-per-view event next Saturday night.
Fightful Select the final decision was made on Tuesday afternoon to have Miro replace Moxley. Originally, Miro wasn’t planned to be at this week’s Dynamite so he had to make the trip on Wednesday afternoon and arrived shortly before Dynamite
Fightful was told, “that creative has changed often for Miro of late.” It’s unclear what AEW had planned for Miro.
Miro’s previous match came on the September 29th edition of Dynamite where he dropped the TNT Title to Sammy Guevara.
