The card for the WWE Crown Jewel pay-per-view event in Saudi Arabia is slowly coming along and one match expected to be confirmed for the event will feature Goldberg.
The WWE Hall of Famer is slated to wrestle Bobby Lashley at the show after their first match took place at SummerSlam. The storyline is Goldberg is trying to get revenge for his son after Lashley attacked Gage following the WWE Title Match at SummerSlam where Goldberg sold a knee injury.
During today’s episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about the match and how Goldberg has a specific clause in his WWE contract regarding Saudi Arabia shows that sees him get more money.
“Obviously, the other match that is also going to be there is Lashley and Bill Goldberg because that one won’t be put on TV because Goldberg does have a specific deal with the Saudi shows that is very lucrative and if you were going to pull his match to put it on TV he wouldn’t be happy whatsoever. That’s millions of dollars of difference. It’s not like the other guys where it really doesn’t make a difference, they’re going to get paid the same as long as they’re on the show. He’s gotta be on the show.”
WWE makes a ton of money by running Saudi Arabia shows and the Saudi General Sports Authority will make requests from time to time including certain wrestlers they want on the card such as The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, and Triple H.
