WWE previously confirmed WrestleMania 38 will take place on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas.
Earlier this month, it was reported the working plan internally was for WrestleMania 38 to be split up into two nights. The event will now take place on Saturday, April 2, and Sunday, April 3.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that “WWE contacted AT&T Stadium with several different potential ideas including the two-day Mania that has been talked about.” Per the report, having WrestleMania held over the course of two nights is under consideration but not a done deal.
It was noted that the different ideas WWE approached the stadium with included WrestleMania being held on Sunday and then holding the post-Mania episode of Monday Night Raw at the stadium with a setup of 40,000 seats.
For now, WWE is looking “into planning, security, insurance, cost of production, length of the event two days vs. one day and other locations for shows that weekend.”
As for the Friday episode of SmackDown on the weekend of WrestleMania, this event won’t be held at the American Airlines Center as the Dallas Mavericks have a game that night. In past years, WWE has taped the go-home episode of SmackDown in order for talent to get into the town of Mania. However, FOX may not want to do that this year.
WWE has looked at Gerald Ford Stadium, which holds 32,000 seats, for this episode of SmackDown as well as the fallout edition of Raw because WWE expect so many tourists in town for the weekend.
