Bryan Danielson made his AEW debut at the All Out pay-per-view event, but he didn’t use The Final Countdown by Europe as his theme song. Instead, his new music is called Born For Greatness by Elliott Taylor.
The Final Countdown was used as his theme song before he signed with WWE and fans had hoped for him to get the song back in All Elite Wrestling.
It was reported at the time that an attempt was made by AEW President Tony Khan to get the song, but it would’ve cost too much money to license the music. The amount of money wasn’t known at the time.
Danielson spoke with Bleacher Report about signing with the promotion and during it, he explained the situation with his theme song.
“Tony [Khan] and I talked about a couple of things. We had talked about ‘The Final Countdown,’ but that was way too expensive. I hate talking [about] business stuff when I don’t exactly know what it was, but it wasn’t just the amount of money. They would only let [AEW] play it like 20 times a year or something like that. For several $100,000 you can play ‘Final Countdown’ 20 times a year. That doesn’t work for us.”
Danielson noted that he wanted something different and reached out to Taylor about it. He put him over 72 hours in the studio to make the song. The former WWE Champion said he likes it and thinks it also incorporates a chant that people would do when he was on the independent wrestling scene.
Danielson will make his AEW in-ring debut against World Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega in a non-title match on Wednesday’s Dynamite: Grand Slam.
