Bryan Danielson had to fight to get medically cleared by WWE’s doctor after suffering too many concussions. Even after that triumphant return, Bryan was never given that huge of a push by WWE due to their belief that he was injury prone. That is a story that still bothers Danielson, because it’s not necessarily true.

While talking to the Sports Illustrated Media Podcast, Danielson discussed how WWE viewed him as injury prone and he broke down how this is a fallacy. He only had one surgery in over twenty years of in-ring action. He had some concussions.

“I want to say that, I think their story of me, which they believe, is they think I’m injury prone because…the reality is, I’ve been wrestling for 21 years, I’ve had one surgery, which was my neck surgery and I was out for nine months and I was forced to retire due to multiple concussions. All the concussion doctors have cleared me and that was concussions over the span of, at that point, 15-plus years. I haven’t had that many injuries and I’m really durable, especially when you compare me to Triple H or John Cena or all these other people. I haven’t had any problems with my knees or anything like that.”

Bryan Danielson had a huge match against Kenny Omega at AEW Grand Slam that wouldn’t have been possible if he was injury prone. WWE might have viewed him in that regard, but he worked hard to prove that is not the case in AEW.
