AEW brought a packed show to Arthur Ashe Stadium and the venue seemed to be very happy. It was reported that they can’t wait for AEW to return, but they might not have been ready for 20,000 pro wrestling fans.

Andrew Zarian reported that AEW’s packed crowd was something that Arthur Ashe Stadium was not prepared for. It’s unknown why they were taken off-guard considering the fact that the event’s ticket sales made headlines.

One negative was that the staff at Arthur Ashe was extremely unprepared for this large of an audience.

When speaking to a few people working at the stadium they had no idea it would be a sell out.

Not sure how that’s possible.

Another fan in attendance sent us the following note from AEW Grand Slam: “Arthur Ashe was not ready for a wrestling crowd. Lines longer than the great wall of China to get beers. It’s insane missed 2 matches waiting on line for pretzels n beers. The merch line is insane cm punks shirt sold out. The AEW subway shirts are also sold out.”

We’ll have to see if Arthur Ashe Stadium is better prepared next time around. Odds are pro wrestling brings in a different fan base than tennis. Now they will keep that in mind for the future. Odds are AEW will make Arthur Ashe their NYC home from now on.
